Addressing Invitation to Unmarried Couple and Their Child
How do I address an invitation to an unmarried couple, and include their child that has the father’s last name? Is this correct?
Bill and Jane Jones (Jane is the child)/
Betty Cooper/
(Their address).
If not, what is correct. Please help so as not to hurt anyone’s feelings…
–K.S.
I would write the three names on the envelope this way:
Ms. Betty Cooper and Mr. William Jones
Miss Jane Jones
(Their address)
Should you need more space on the top line:
Ms. Betty Cooper and
Mr. William Jones
Miss Jane Jones
(Their address)
For a formal wedding, you would not include the child’s name on the envelope. Her name would appear on the inside envelope like this:
Ms. Cooper and Mr. Jones
Jane Jones
