Mother-of-The-Bride Dress Code: March Family Wedding at 4:00 PM

What length of dress should the mother-of-the-bride wear for a 4:00 afternoon wedding? It is a small March wedding of fifty guests in Oklahoma.

–Cindy, Oklahoma

The earlier in the day the ceremony, the less dressy the dress code. A four o’clock wedding that is not a ‘formal’ wedding, would call for knee-length dresses. Except of course for the bride, who can wear a bridal gown or whatever she wants — on her special day.

The mother-of-the-bride would wear either a wonderful knee-length dress, a lovely fitted sheath with a jacket, or a chic, dressy skirt-suit, often called a dinner suit.

Something similar to the St. John coral suit, illustrated, to the left may be a good look for you at your daughter’s four o’clock family wedding in Oklahoma this March.

As we know little about the wedding this is a rather general answer. With more details, we would be happy to help further.
